How Much Does One-on-One AI Coaching Cost?

How much does one-on-one AI coaching cost?

Two drafting stools facing a table with a balanced scale on it

My one-on-one AI guidance is $100 an hour, or $80 for non-profits and veteran-owned businesses, with a three-hour minimum, so it starts at $300 ($240 at the reduced rate). The first 30-minute call is free. The full terms are on the AI guidance page. The rest of this post answers the question underneath the price: what else could you do instead, and when does paying for a person make sense?

What learning it yourself costs

You can get a long way for little money. As of October 30, 2026:

Route Cost What you get
A free chat account $0 Claude's free plan covers chat on web, desktop and mobile, with web search and file creation
A paid plan $20 a month, or $17 a month billed annually Claude Pro adds more usage, Projects and more models
Free courses $0 Anthropic Academy lists free courses; "AI Fluency: Framework and foundations" is listed at 4 hours and "AI capabilities and limitations" at 3.5 hours
One-on-one guidance with me $300 minimum Three hours on your own business, with me

Those courses teach how these tools work in general. They don't know your invoices, your customer emails or your Tuesday.

What the money buys that those don't

The courses and plans give you the tool and the concepts. What they can't give is an outside look at your own week: which chores are worth handing over, which are not, and how to set it up so you stay in charge of the decisions that matter. I wrote about that sorting in Which Decisions to Hand AI, and Which to Keep.

If you like learning alone and have a few free evenings, start with the free route above. I'd rather you did that than pay me for something you'd enjoy figuring out.

An example of three hours (illustrative)

This is an example of how an engagement could go, not a past client.

Session Length What happens
1 1 hour You show me your week. We list the chores that are repetitive, heavy on reading or writing, and low-risk if the first try is wrong, and pick one
2 1 hour We set that one chore up in your own AI account, with your rules about what it may and may not do, and run it on real work
3 1 hour, a week or two later You tell me what held up and what didn't. We fix that, and pick the next chore or stop

The three hours don't have to be in one sitting. Each session is at least an hour.

When it isn't worth it

If you don't have repetitive work that involves reading or writing, there is little for AI to take over, and I will say so on the free call. If you only want to understand the basics, the free route is enough. If your question is mostly technical, such as wiring a system together, a developer is the better spend. And if what you need is a growth plan or a decision about which systems to run, that is Brandager's work, not coaching.

The most common thing I hear on a free call is some version of "we were excited about using AI, but we feel overwhelmed." That is usually the sign that a few guided sessions would help, because the hard part is knowing where to start, not the tool itself.

FAQ

Do I have to book all three hours at once?

No. Split them however you like, as long as each session is at least an hour.

Is the first call really free?

Yes, 30 minutes, with nothing to prepare.

Do you work in person or online?

Both. In person is local, and video works from anywhere.
